25,000 - 30,000 dogs in Irish pounds have to be put to sleep due to irresponsible dog ownership. We can all make a difference by starting to take responsibility for the reproduction of animals we have decided to domesticate.

Spaying" and "neutering" are pain free surgical procedures that have no negative side effects to your dog or cat. On the contrary, castration reduces aggressive or dominant behaviour and can reduce straying.  Spaying avoids your bitch or cat from becoming pregnant and stops behavioural problems associated with oestrus (‘heat’ or ‘in season’).  It will also considerably reduce the risk of common types of cancer and other diseases in later life.
